The League of Renaissance Merchants
is a web ring for artists, craftsmen and merchants who
- participate in Medieval or Renaissance faires, SCA events or Living History events;
- provide period costumes, accessories, etc., to event participants and patrons;
- sell products created by pariticapants in these events.
If you are a participant or represent one or more participants in
SCA, Living History, or Medieval or Renaissance events
and have something to sell, this is the Net Ring
to join!

On member merchant web sites you may find
clothiers and costumers, smithies
and armouries, jewelers, booksellers, potters and
glassblowers ... literally every type
of artist, craftsman or merchant with
something for the Medieval or Renaissance life style.
You say you're not a merchant?
Well, you can still support
The League.
Just use a "browse" icon (like the one pictured on the left)
as a link to either the list of sites in the Ring
or to a random site in the ring.

Ah, you say you are a performer, someone who entertains the masses!
May we humbly suggest our sister web ring,
The Guild of Renaissance Performers.
You can even join both rings if you are a performer who also
sells a product.
Simply click on the icon to the right and see if this ring isn't for you.
Yes, there are other SCA, Living History, Medieval and
Renaissance rings out there.
But not everyone is on all rings.
Think of
The League of Renaissance Merchants
as intersecting those other rings on some cosmic,
multi-dimensional plane
in order to bring merchants and customers together.
If you are already on another ring, why not join
The League
and become one of these cosmic intersections?
How to Join The League
If you fit the criteria listed below it's really easy to join
The League.
Here's all you have to do.
- Decide if your site meets the criteria for inclusion.
- You are a merchant participating in Renaissance faires, SCA
or other Living History events selling to either patrons or participants
at these events.
- Your web site must be commercial, that is, it must reflect your business.
- Your site must make clear your participation in SCA,
Living History or Renaissance Events, either by listing the events you participate in,
or providing appropriate background information.
- Sites representing multiple merchants or artists are welcome.
However, sites that simply review or
advertise are not eligible to join this Ring.
- Auction sites may not join this Ring.

Submit your site.
You will receive email confirming that your site has been added to the queue.
This email will also include the customized HTML fragment containing the ring
links for your site.
- Add the Net Ring links
to your site.
Just cut and paste the HTML fragment that was emailed to you when you
submitted your site.
The HTML must be added to the page that was listed for your site when it
was submitted. If the links are not on this page, your site will not be
added to the Ring.

- The Ringmistress will review your site to make sure that the Ring links are
correct and that your site meets the
criteria for membership in
The League of Renaissance Merchants.
- The Ringmistress will add your site to the Ring.
You will receive email when your site is added.

Adding Net Ring Links
After submitting your site to
The League of Renaissance Merchants
you need to add the appropriate links to your web site.
You can use the standard HTML fragment that was included in the email
sent to you when you submitted your site, or you can modify it to
fit the design of your web site.
The links must be added to the page that is listed for your site.
This does not have to be your main page, it may be a links or rings page.
If it is not your main page, the Ringmistress humbly suggests that it
include your site name, and links to other pages on your web site.
This is the only place that Ringmistress will look for the
links, so if they are not here, your site will not be added to
The League.
You may use any of the graphics provided on the
Link Graphics page
to create your Net Ring links.
If you do not want to use the default graphics, please
be sure to change the IMG tag in the links that are
mailed to you after you submit your site.
There are some requirements for the links:
- You must use at least one graphic with the League's name.
- You must have a link to the League's home page.
- You must have at least a Next and a Previous
link (otherwise the ring doesn't work very well).
You can use the provided graphics or create your own.
If you do create any neat graphics and want to share them,
send 'em to
the Ringmistress
(that's me) and I'll add them to the
Link Graphics.
Be warned - if the Ringmistress finds peachy keen new graphics on your page
when she visits, she may add them to available graphic sets.
Remember that the links for The League
must be in place before your
site can actually be added to the Ring.
Here are a couple of examples of how to link your site into
The League of Renaissance Merchants.
To use this HTML on your web page, you must
replace "id=1" by the ID number assigned to your site.
For example, if your site ID is 15, then you
would replace "id=1" by "id=15".
Do not change "ring=renmerchant" ("renmerchant" is the
Ring ID for this Ring).
Please note that the Net Ring links will not work correctly until your site has
been added to the Net Ring.
When you try to follow these links, you will simply be sent to this page.
This is normal. In fact, if these links do appear to work
correctly while your site is still in the queue, then you probably
didn't change "id=1" to your own site ID!
Example #1
This is the "standard" way to implement the HTML links.
In fact, this is the same code fragment that will be emailed
to you after you add your site to the queue.
The copy that will be emailed to you will have your site ID
already added.

Example #2
This example includes a variety of links in addition to the minimum required links.
This style of Net Ring links is deprecated, that is, the Ringmistress suggests that
you do not use it. It is here so that sites migrating from the old WebRing version of
The League of Renaissance Merchants
can simply cut and paste the links without changing graphics or format.

Special Note for AOL Users
For whatever reason, the AOL email program really messes up the HTML fragment.
The exact same email read with any other email program will be displayed correctly,
but somehow the AOL email program loses the links and keeps the graphics.
Do not use the HTML fragment that is emailed to you.
You must copy one of the HTML fragments from the examples on this page.
Don't forget to replace "id=1" (which is the ID for this page) with the unique
ID that was assigned to your site when you joined.
Edit your Site Information
Enter your site ID and password below. This will take you to the

where you can edit the information about your site.
You can even change your URL.
